How to apply for a transfer

We no longer have a transfer list

If you wish to transfer either within our stock or to other social housing, you now need to register with your local authority on their Choice Based Letting Scheme.

The Schemes give you more choice and control over where you live and the type of property you live in.

You can view the adverts for available properties in a style similiar to estate agents adverts.

You no longer need to wait to be nominated by your landlord or local authority for a suitable property.

Once you are registered you can check the weekly adverts and "bid" for properties that you are interested in.

 How the process works

  1. Register with your local choice based lettings scheme and follow all instructions given to you. This could include supplying medical information, or details of income.
  2. Banding - once you have been registered you will receive a notification letter or e-mail telling you what band you have been placed in and what size of property you are eligible for
  3. View adverts of vacant council or housing association homes each week in a newsletter, available on the website or in specific locations (details of these locations are available from your local choice based lettings scheme)
  4. Bid - make a note of the reference number(s) of the home(s) you are interested in and place up to a specified number of  bids per week either on the website, by phone or by text message
  5. Offer - After bids have closed, the property will usually be offered to the applicant in the highest band who has been waiting the longest and who meets the criteria stated in the advert

 If you are successful

If you have bid for another Gloucestershire Housing Association property you must have the Associations consent before you can move.

We may not give consent if:

·        You owe rent

·        You have broken any conditions of tenancy

We will consider any exceptional circumstances.

We will give you reasons if we refuse consent.

Letting people know you are moving:

When moving homes you must:

  • Give at least 4 weeks notice to your Housing Officer
  • Provide us with a forwarding address
  • Allow us to inspect your property before you leave. If you do not do this we will not allow your transfer to go ahead.
  • Carry out any repairs that are your responsibility before you leave. We will charge you for any damage done to the property during your tenancy.
  • At the end of the notice period you must return your keys to us no later than 12 noon on the Monday. If you do not do this we will charge you an extra weeks rent.
  • Ensure all furniture is removed and you leave the property clean and tidy for the next person. If you do not do this we will recharge you.
  • Make sure your rent is paid up to date
