Equality and Diversity

We are committed to promoting equality and diversity in all aspects of our business, and to dealing effectively with all forms of discrimination.

We will treat all service users, job applicants, employees and Board members fairly and equally, regardless of their sex, transgender status, sexual orientation, religion or belief, marital status, civil partnership status, age, race, colour, nationality, national origin, ethnic origin or disability.

We will also make sure that our workforce is representative of the communities in which we work, at all levels of the organisation.

We will be fair in our dealings with the people, communities and organisations with which we have relationships, and will take into account the diverse nature of their cultures and backgrounds.

This work is co-ordinated through our Diversity Action Plan. The Plan focuses on how we can provide services to, and engage with, all our residents. It also considers the workforce, governance arrangements (Board members) and partnerships we have, such as with our contractors.

Activities that have been delivered include:

  • Surveying all residents to gather up-to-date information about who they are and their specific support needs,
  • Using information about customers to support good customer care, such as alerts on the system when a customer has a specific support need such as requiring extra time to get to the door, or information in another language,
  • Targeting residents with a disability to provide information about the aids and adaptations service available,
  • Asking contractors to give information about how they are meeting their own equality and diversity policy, and organising equality and diversity training for contractors
  • Working with specialist organisations who provide us with knowledge and expertise about current equalities issues.
  • Awareness training for staff and residents, training on carrying out equality impact assessments, and monitoring customer satisfaction to make sure residents from under-represented groups are receiving a good service.

Activities we are working in include:

  • monitoring customer satisfaction surveys to find out more about the satisfaction levels of people from under-represented groups

The Action Plan is updated on a regular basis and is available by contacting the Head of Business Support on 01452 541867 or e-mail businesssupport@glosha.co.uk

We also welcome any views or contributions from residents, partners and the wider community. If you want to get involved, or have a comment to make, please contact us.
